English for Lawyers Program
Overview
The English for Lawyers Program introduces participants to legal English concepts and terminology. A variety of topics are covered, such as aspects of the Lebanese legal system, company law, contract law, and a wide array of legal English skills, ranging from legal reading, drafting, analysis, and writing strategies to oral presentations about substantive legal issues. Each level consists of 45 hours.
The Program is divided into four levels:
LEVEL I
English for Lawyers Level I is intended for lawyers and those interested in law. This level will equip participants with the specialized terminology, phrases, and expressions required to easily express ideas and to draft legal documents.
LEVEL II
English for Lawyers Level II is intended for lawyers and those interested in law. This level will equip the participants with the legal English drafting rules and structures required to easily draft legal documents. English for Lawyers Level II is designed to meet the needs of law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies.
LEVEL III
English for Lawyers Level III is intended for lawyers and those interested in law. This level will equip the participants with the legal English drafting rules and structures required to easily draft legal documents pertinent to joint ventures, joint stock companies, and partnership agreements. English for Lawyers Level III is designed to meet the needs of law firms, corporations, companies, corporate legal departments, and government agencies.
LEVEL IV
English for Lawyers Level IV is intended for lawyers and those interested in law. This level will equip the participants with the legal drafting rules, terminology, phrases, and expressions of corporate contracts, legal minutes, emails, memos, and legal oral responses. English for Lawyers’ Level IV is designed to meet the needs of law firms, corporate legal departments, and government agencies.
